Frequently Asked Questions
What is Little Falls mission statement?
We exist to transform ourselves and our neighbors into growing followers of Jesus Christ.
What does it mean to be a follower of Christ?
When Jesus met people who were drawn to Him, He invited them to “follow me.” That invitation still stands today for anyone who wants to make Jesus their Lord and Savior. The Bible clearly explains that Jesus was God in the flesh, who came to earth for a purpose – to die for our sins through His sacrificial crucifixion. His death in our place makes a way for us to receive forgiveness and new life (including eternal life once we die). The way to receive that new life is to “follow Jesus.” This means that we put our faith in Jesus Christ as our Savior, we confess our sins (admit we have done wrong) and then, we submit to Jesus’ authority in our lives, allowing Him to lead us. Following Jesus is a lifelong journey; we daily recognize that He is our Lord, and we are His followers.
How can I become a follower of Christ?
Most religions are based on the premise that if “we do” enough good deeds to outweigh our bad ones, we will go to Heaven where good things await us. Consequently, many people are caught up in “doing” and “doing” good deeds to win God’s approval.
The Bible offers a totally different paradigm. Instead of the “we do” approach, Christianity rests on the fact that “Jesus did.” Jesus did the one thing for us that we cannot do for ourselves and that we need to be forgiven and be approved by God: Jesus died – in our place, on a cross – to pay for our sins. This act of selfless love opened up the door for us to be accepted by God and to enter into a relationship with Him.
So, rather than us “doing” good things to go to Heaven, Jesus already “did” everything for us. What then, is our role?
In one sense, it is very simple. We believe in Jesus, as the Savior that we desperately need. We confess that we are sinners in need of His forgiveness. We acknowledge that He paid our debt on the cross. And we ask Him to come into our lives and to transform us by the power of God through the Holy Spirit.
So, one the one hand, God doesn’t ask for anything from us. But on the other hand, He asks for everything. How is that?
Well, when we confess our sins and put our faith in Jesus Christ, we acknowledge that He is now in charge of our lives. He is not only our Savior, but our Lord, whom we follow and obey. This means that we embark on a lifelong journey of living for Jesus. We seek to bring Him glory with our actions, to do good works as He leads us, and to grow closer to Him. We do not fall into the trap of “doing” as we spoke of before, but – out of love and devotion to Jesus – we are inspired to love and serve others in this world. Ideally, living our lives for Christ becomes our highest goal and our greatest joy.
How would my life be different if I were a follower of Christ?
Christians are sinners just like everyone else, but their sin is not counted against them. That is because Jesus, who was God in the flesh and lived a perfect life, died in their place so they wouldn’t have to pay the price for their sin. Consequently, those who follow Christ don’t have the heavy burden of guilt any more. God has forgiven them, and they are freed up to live an abundant life, empowered by the Holy Spirit and motivated by their love of the Lord. Christ-followers have problems, just like everyone else, but they are not alone as they face them. Instead, they have the God of the Universe with them, helping, guiding, directing, and loving them each step of the way.
Aren’t Christians just a bunch of judgmental, boring people who never have fun?
Some are… but not all of them! It’s true to say that all Christians are sinners who are forgiven…. beyond that, they are a diverse group of people. While some may be judgmental and boring, they have no reason to be. It’s only by the grace of God that one becomes a believer, so they shouldn’t judge. And as for boring, the Bible says that Jesus came to bring us “life and life abundantly.” (John 10:10, ESV) This doesn’t sound boring at all. In fact, the Bible paints a picture of Jesus as a man who was vibrant, magnetic, and someone thousands of people mobbed regularly. This is a far cry from the dim view many have of Christians. We believe Christians -- empowered by the Holy Spirit inside them -- should be warm, winsome, caring, others-centered, relevant, vibrant individuals. If you happen to meet some who aren’t, remember… we don’t follow other Christians, we follow Jesus. He is our model, and while we hope all Christians will reflect Him every day, if they don’t, please don’t reject Him.

Are there programs for children and youth at Little Falls?
You bet. We believe one of the most important ministries of our church is reaching children and youth for Christ. Every Sunday, children and young adults worship alongside their parents during the service, taking part in singing, prayer, confession, and communion. During the sermon, however, we offer age-appropriate lessons for the children in grades K-5th. Here, they are taught the fundamental truths of the Bible, who Jesus is, and how they can know Him and follow Him throughout their lives. In addition, we offer youth programs Sunday night for kids from 6th grade-12th grade. They play games, enjoy worship and fellowship and take part in a Bible study. Periodically, we also offer Wednesday night lessons for children and youth, often as part of our supper/teaching series.
